In line with the development and progress of educational, research, and executive fields of seed sciences and technologies in the country, and the felt necessity of gathering researchers and practitioners in the field of seed sciences and technologies in the country, the National Conferences on Seed Science and Technology in Iran have been held since 2008 until now.

History of the National Conferences on Seed Science and Technology in Iran

In March 2003, the field of "Seed Science and Technology" at the master's level was established by the University of Tehran, and the following year, with the acceptance of five students, it practically joined the agricultural fields of this university. In the following years, in addition to the University of Tehran, other universities also began to attract students in this field. Furthermore, in 2003-2004, with the approval of the Plant Variety Registration and Seed and Seedling Certification Act in the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the establishment of the Seed and Seedling Registration and Certification Research Institute and the creation of a national institution for the registration of plant varieties and the coordination and organization of matters related to supervision of seed and seedling production and certification and research in these areas in the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, and with the expansion of postgraduate education in this field in the country and the presence of graduates in the field, the necessity of creating a dedicated assembly for the presence of researchers, specialists, and enthusiasts of seed science and technology to present research and studies in this field in the country, in line with enhancing national capabilities for the advancement of seed science and technology, was increasingly felt.
